Consequences Of Pollution

Water pollution endangers the life  of animals and plants in affected rivers and seas. Toxic chemicals washed into the water destroy aquatic animals and plants. Those chemicals that do not destroy the organisms remain in them and these are passed on to other animals along the food chain. Eventually, human beings are afflicted as they are part of the food chain. High levels of mercury in the sea , for example, affects the micro organisms found in the water. The mercury gets into the fish that feeds on the micro organisms. the mercury gets into the human body when they eat the fish. mercury in substantial amount is harmful to living organisms including people.
