What is Pollution?

Pollution is the introduction of substances into the atmosphere that has damaging effects on living things and the environment. Pollution can be from natural sources such as volcanic eruptions and forest fires. Human activities however are responsible for the most of the pollution. Some substances are odorless and colourless like some gases. Other substances are visible to the naked eye and some even emit smell.

Substances that are harmful to living things and the environment can be introduced on land, in water and the air.  the main types of pollution are land, water and air pollution.These substances include carbon dioxide associated with cars, power plants and fossil fuel burning, methane, chlorofluorocarbon and sulfur dioxide.
